Galen Berg met with us this morning at Lou Rich in Hayward. He started at Lou Rich when he was 16 years old sweeping the floors and now is the manager of the Hayward branch. Lou Rich was established in 1972 when they started their Hayward facility. They have expanded over the years and now have three plants and have acquired additional businesses. They have a collaboration with Hormel and currently have Hormel engineers on staff and along with Lou Rich employees. They began their relationship with Hormel in 1978 and have worked to develop and test many products with Hormel. Their engineers develop products to make processing more efficient and support the companies they work with. It was very interesting to tour the facility and see the products being developed and tested. The students were very impressed by the innovation and development happening at this facility.
